Established in 2011 by Ice Angels, the Showcase is an annual investment event that attracts a dozen of the most high profile, high potential start-ups in New Zealand to pitch to an audience of more than 900 investors. These investors span local and international family offices, angel investors and V.C. funds.
Since foundation, the Showcase has hosted 103 leading start-ups, originated more than $35m in investment and featured start-ups who have collectively raised >$200m in venture and expansion capital. This has positioned the event as one of the largest investment events of its kind outside of Silicon Valley and as the premier annual event in the Australasian early-stage technology investment ecosystem.
Notable Showcase alumni have gone on to IPO, such as Adherium (ASX:ADR), be acquired by global technology companies like PowerbyProxi (Acquired by Apple) or IMeasureU (Acquired by Oxford Metrics Group), while others including Crimson Education, Halter and Nyriad have raised capital from international venture capitalists and corporate venture groups including Tiger Global, Data Collective, Founders Fund, Julian Robertson, Samsung Ventures, TE Connectivity and Peter Thiel.
